Just been reading that residents who fled their homes desperately to avoid wildfires have been allowed to go back for temporary visits to their neighbour hoods, some of them whom went back have gone back to realise that shameless people have been in and stolen what they could find while they where evacuated.

Haven't these people been through enough? Just awful :(

I agree, especially when you go to this extent to do something as cruel as that. Makes you wonder what was so important that they had to take from people who are already suffering.

This is my home town and it just pisses me off to no end that someone would stoop so low as to prey on the misfortunes of others.

Shameless act of greed and no respect for others or their possessions.

It's awful to see it I must admit and I agree Emerald it is pure greed, it's such a shame to see so many people like this as you hardly ever saw it years ago but it seems to be a regular occurance nowadays.

How true, Shortie, and it seems lately to be happening more and more. Years ago, you could leave your door wide open all night and no-one would come in except maybe a field mouse lol

lol, I agree. Times have really changed since then and it is a shame to see how badly it has changed nowadays I only feel safe when everywhere is locked up and it really shouldn't be like that.

We have a Yale and a Mortice lock on the door and keep both locked even when we're in.

My door is always locked as well. But locks won't keep anyone out if they want in.

That sure is true, people are not afraid any more to walk into your house or get into your house by means of even an open Window whilst you are in, it's shocking just how low many will stoop to get something and half the time it's something to sell so they can spend it on whatever they need next.

I remember a few years back my next door neighbour and his wife where sleeping in their beds and had their windows open because it had been hot, someone climbed into their bedroom and stole from them (jewellery) whilst they slept, they didn't realise it had happened until they woke up.

One of them is deaf and can only hear with hearing aid which he didn't wear for bed and the other is a heavy sleeper, it was quite late at night also.

I agree, it quite amazing though what stupid situations people will put themselves in just to be able to get access to something they want for their own benefit.

I can't say I have seen anything myself to be honest on the news or any news websites I frequent.

So a few thousands, I don't think it's worth what they risked though.

It is sick some people can stoop this low

I remember the days no one locked their doors even at night
I never go to sleep now unless my doors are locked I don`t even like having my windows open at night so if it is hot I use a fan
