Barack Obama is to host a live Google+ 'Hangout' session next week.

The US president will field voters' questions about his State of the Union address via the social network on January 30.

Various members of Obama's administration will host their own video conferencing session throughout the week as part of the White House's extended coverage of Tuesday's annual address.

"The President is committed to creating a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration," read a statement from the White House.

"That's why President Obama and more than 25 members of his administration will be responding to your questions about the speech all week and talking about the issues that matter most to you."

Users hoping to question Obama are required to record it as a 30-second clip and upload it to the White House's YouTube page. Those selected will be invited to participate in the 'Hangout' in real-time.

Earlier this month, Obama's administration weighed in on the debate surrounding the controversial SOPA and PIPA anti-piracy bills, saying that any legislation that facilitates online censorship will not be supported.

Obama will make his State of the Union address to the United States Congress tomorrow.

I never want to be president, it's a hassle and every time you do something you get more bitching than thanks.

Well, I really like the president myself, don't see why people knock him so much, I mean, he's really fine. And at each turn he makes a public appearance, it seems he gets more knocks and hate.

Same here, not a US Citizen myself however it would have affected us if it has been passed so I would also like to hear what he has to say on that.
