Do You Still Count During A Thunderstorm?

Many people do it with their kids when they are frightened during a storm I remember my mum telling me to do it to calm me when I was younger, we used to sit and watch it out the bedroom window and count after each lightning strike.

I still do this myself even now when I see lightning I will count just to get a rough estimate of how far away the storm is.

Do you do this or have you ever done it?

No, and I see countless storms where I live, lightening is always in the storms we see, I've had transformers just 20 feet from my place hit and it did no damage other than to the transformer. In this same area about a half a mile away years ago one friend had his house hit on the corner roof and it did a lot of damage. Long as I'm indoors I don't worry about them but I have to admit that loud unexpected bang does send the heart rate up, that happened early one morning recently when an overnight storm came thru. I did hear the counting reference but that was at least 50 years ago or longer.

We are the same Pam, hardly ever get storms here now or if we do they last around 5 - 10 minutes and pass. I do miss the times when we used to get ones that lasted hours.

Yep, considering what goes on around the rest of the world we are extremely lucky.

I love thunder and lightning storms and will often go out on the balcony and watch.
