Above is an image of the upcoming Facebook integrated smartphone yet to be released 12 to 18 months from now. I watched in a local technology news and an article about it says:

Facebook is reportedly teaming up with HTC to make a phone completely based on the service, as the social network makes a more dramatic leap into the smartphone market.

The Taiwanese phone maker’s new handset is code-named “Buffy,” and will likely be released sometime in the next 12 to 18 months, according to AllThingsD. The phone will run on a customized version of Android and include a software with an emphasis on tight Facebook integration, supporting HTML 5 so it can run the social network’s applications.

Facebook users are accessing the site on smartphones and tablets more than ever, with 350 million active mobile users, making it pivotal for the company to establish a presence in the mobile market. The social network has apps that run on both Android and iOS devices, but for those customers whose primary focus is social networking capabilities, a device built from the ground up with Facebook in mind could be a perfect fit.

      Complete article here.

So what do you say guys? If ever this phone is released, would you buy one? Why or why not?

Smartphone looks very classy and facebooky. I like it when the camera's on the side of the phone rather than on the top of it.

I wouldn't buy it since I don't really use FaceBook.
If I get the phone and there's one issue with it when using FB, I'm going to complain, lol.

I think they need to work harder on making their website better before considering taking things further like this. I myself don't use facebook half as much as what I used to now since the changes so to be honest a facebook phone would be pointless to me.

One company does it and they all do it, what will it be next a Facebook Tablet?

I only use facebook to advertise my forum/website. So I guess this phone will be better exposure.

Let's see, a site notorious for is lack of privacy, blatant disregard for it and the sale of your private info to the highest bidder, making their very own smartphone, which will only facilitate the same thing but on a much larger scale creating even more potential victims?

Yeah, no, I think I'm going to pass on that.

It's not actually from Facebook I think. It's another cell phone company that is just adding a LOT of Facebook options to try and attract more customers, as well as obviously promote Facebook.
It's a good call from Mr. Zuckerburg though in the sense that Google owns the search and advertising market, and with Android and now their social network they could take over even more. Furthermore, with Youtube they own Facebook in my humble opinion!

I think it will be very lame. It will be kinda like the HTC phone with the facebook button.

What happens if Facebook closes all a sudden?

I don't think that will happen, however there is always that 'what-if"? The HTC Status (the phone you are referring to) was a total flop....so I don't see an 'official facebook phone' being any better.....
