Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has been arrested over an allegation of child sex abuse dating back to the 1970s.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 73-year-old man was arrested in Kingston upon Thames on 26 April.
The entertainer and quiz show host - who has an OBE for services to showbusiness and charity - was released on bail pending further enquiries.
A police statement said he was questioned about an alleged assault on a young boy in the late 1970s.
Mr Tarbuck's arrest came after information was passed on by Metropolitan Police officers working on Operation Yewtree, North Yorkshire Police said.

      Yet another celeb .....
In all these recent high-profile cases the inevitable result is that the celebrities reputation is going to be destroyed whether there is proof or not - mud sticks and people will always think the worst.
But while it all seems never-ending, I guess each set of allegations still has to be investigated to give justice for those times when there may have been genuine victims.

I think it should be made well known that there will also be harsh justice for anyone proved to be making false allegations.

I couldn't agree more. Anyone who feels like it's a good idea to jump on the band wagon to try and get anything out of this should be dealt with accordingly not just for wasting police time if that is the case but also for making the persons life a living hell in accusing them in the first place. Seems ever since all this started with Jimmy Saville after his death more and more accusations have come to light. I am not saying that they are not all true accusations but you never know what people may do when they see an opportunity.
