So yeah, I regged on some fora, and they didn't even got an introduction forum. Weird eh? I mean, they should have one, because then the members won't feel welcome. Or won't find a place to introduce themselves. What do you think of my rant? Justified or not?

An intro forum is handy but not essential imo

To me, its very important because if I can't introduce myself, then I won't feel settled in on the forum and stuff.

I feel it really does depend on the person. If you are the kind of person who would rather ease in with an introduction like me then one being there is better, but if you don't mind going straight in and posting then it's not a problem. I don't think it's essential but I think it's nice for a forum to have one :)

I'd feel quite ill at ease and uncomfortable when theres no intro forum. I know its not compulsory or mandatory on a forum, but still, I think its necessary to usher in the members.

use to be big on forums, but in the past years I've seen the need for them decline. Not many new members even use it.

I've been on several forums and never used them. Though I did put one in my forum.

Well since I'm talking about Ultimate-Guitar.com with about 2 million members, and similar sized forums. I think I'm fine.

I think I'd rather the board owner to say welcome aboard to the new member... but that's just me how I feel about it.

it depends on the type of forum but introduction is something like a lobby in a hotel.
and there are few hotels without lobby I think.

I haven't seen it this way.... but yeah, you have shed some light in this, magick. But yeah, a lobby for me, its required and necessary to usher the guests in and make them feel comfortable.

I believe some forum admins don't have introduction forum because everybody have it and they want to be more original.
