Would you consider or even go ahead and break the law to save a family member?

Say if they had broken the law in some way would you break the law yourself to protect them or let them be punished?

I suppose it depends on what Law.

Not under the current system of justice, no. If I lived in Nazi Germany and I knew that say, my sister had secretly married a Jew and was pregnant with his baby and the Gestapo was looking for them, then yes. I would break an unjust law that would cost three people their lives by hiding them. As it is now, most laws are just and even laws I disagree with are not punishable with death. If someone broke a law and had to do time because of their bad decision, that's just their bad decision. I'm in favor of the legalization of marijuana, but if my brother got caught smoking pot and tried to hide in my attic to avoid jail time, I'd be throwing his butt out the door and calling the police myself.

I agree with APS, Would depend upon the law that was broken and if I considered it something petty or a BS law.
