Steven Spielberg has said that super hero movies are not here to stay.

What are your thoughts? Could Steven Spielberg be right?

As long as they stay unique and different I dont see them dying.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if they died out, given that people have been subjected to so many of them in recent years. Their audiences must be getting tired of them.

The question is, what would replace them? Superhero movies have become so common because they're relatively easy to make, and their plots are simple but not culturally dependent (unlike those of comedies, for example), so they tend to work well with a worldwide audience. Anything that replaces them would probably have to satisfy those two properties as well.
