The Diamond Jubilee is growing closer and closer, so I thought I would start a topic on it :)

Will you be doing anything for the Diamond Jubilee?

I myself will not be doing anything really, probably watch it on the TV and that is about it.

I just saw on the TV today an advert for baby nappies (diapers) and ones they are selling now I think done by pampers have the pattern of a Union Jack on them now.

Would you say they are going too far with the Diamond Jubilee?

I love all the Jubilee celebrations. Every programme they have here (Australia) on t.v. I watch. What an amazing lady at 87 and everything she does. After 60 years on the throne she still draws the crowds. Most of us have only know her as the Monarch of England. Even though some people call me historic even I didn't see her father King George v1. The first time I saw her was as a young lass of 7 and all the schools went to an oval as she drove around in an open jeep as a young queen and we all waved our flags madly.

I have seen her once apparently but don't remember it.
But I have been to Buckingham Palace (well the rear of it) several times delivering vehicles into the Royal Mews (Garages) have had a close look at the Royal Bentley.

There is a concert in our town square and a few street parties that I might go to and I believe there is going to be a huge bonfire and fireworks in the evening weather permitting.

There are street parties and celebrations here in Australia as well. I have been lucky enough to stand in front of Buckingham Palace twice. It is a wonderful feeling. Just finished watching a series here called "Jubilee Queen". Loved it. None of us will ever see another Jubilee Queen or King so it is a bit of history. The last one was I think 1897.

I loved it and proud to be British, we should be having a day like this every year and it is called St. Georges day :)

Couldn't agree with you more on that one :) St Georges Day should definitely be celebrated more than it is, sometimes most don't even notice.

What a marvelous couple. Can you imagine at their age standing there waving , smiling being nice for all those hours. I for one couldn't do it.

Now you come to mention it he certainly does stand up quite straight for his age.

I'm sure a man of his potion never slouches, he must always stand up straight or something like that.

What intrigues me about the infection how he stood there for 4 hours and didn't have to go to the loo. Unless he wet his knickers.

Agree he sure does stand upright and I never noticed it either before you mentioned it.

At 90 years old though it definitely would be seen as not a problem for him not to stand straight, I know the Queen doesn't stand up as straight and she is 86.

It must have taken alot of trips to the toilet before taking the trip during the pageant, 4 hours is a long time though especially with an infection.

      Great news :)

Got to admit though you don't half get some people asking some really daft questions, like this one

I laughed at the Duek's reply :giggle:
